Dennis Brandt was identified as the shooter at Middlesex County's Apple Rehab on Berlin Road in Crowell, authorities said.
Cromwell Police received a 911 call just before 11 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the center. When they arrived, they found the bodies of Dennis and Barbara Brandt suffering from bullet wounds.
Authorities said Barbara was a longtime resident of the center.
Investigators believe Dennis walked into her room and opened fire. Police did not speculate on a motive.
Apple Rehab offers nursing care and rehabilitation for seniors. The center reopened Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The shooting remains under investigation.
